Athens-Clarke Commission Begins Preliminary Transportation Sales Tax Discussion

A backlog of street repaving projects, increased sidewalk construction and installation of a roundabout at South Milledge Avenue and Whitehall Road are just some of the projects that could be funded with an extra 1 percent in local sales tax, Athens-Clarke County commissioners heard Tuesday from County Manager Blaine Williams.
