Gary Lamar “Sparky” Reeves, President Emeritus of South Georgia Technical College, has been named to the State Foundation Board of the Technical College System of Georgia. The Foundation supports TCSG through marketing, advocacy and fundraising to benefit the system’s 22 colleges and their programs, faculty and students.

Reeves, who retired after 11 years as president of South Georgia Technical College in 2015, worked in the state’s technical college system for over 42 years. While at South Georgia Tech, he was instrumental in building partnerships with local and regional businesses such as Caterpillar, John Deere and Kauffman Tire in order to assist students with career opportunities while fulfilling the workforce needs of the community.

Reeves will serve on the TCSG State Foundation Board Development Committee, which is charged with vetting board member prospects and nominating them for approval by the board. He will also work in close partnership with board members and TCSG Commissioner Gretchen Corbin to expand on current funding priorities while at the same time determining new areas of need.

“The experience and institutional knowledge Sparky brings to the board is unmatched,” said State Foundation Board President John Pemberton, senior vice-president of Southern Company. “We are incredibly excited to use his expertise in fundraising to solicit support for our students and further the mission of the TCSG Foundation. I look forward to working with him to continue the work of changing the lives of Georgians.”

Other members of the TCSG Foundation Board include Bryan Batson, Bryant Beadles, Scott Bentley, Cannon Carr, Jan Flesher, Tino Mantella, and Kurt Ronn.
