Athens Slated to Get Another New Hotel

Construction plans for a new Athens hotel are scheduled for review Thursday at the Athens-Clarke County Planning Department. The Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel proposed for the 3.67-acre tract at 2500 Atlanta Highway, between the Howard Johnson Inn and the River’s Edge condominiums, becomes the fourth hotel project either to be announced or under construction in Athens since December.
According to the planning department’s announcement of Thursday’s plans review session, the Fairfield Inn & Suites proposed for Atlanta Highway will be a five-story, 58,260-square-foot facility with 92 guest rooms, meeting space, a fitness center and indoor pool.
