Anticipating the presidential contest topping the Nov. 8 ballot will generate significant voter interest, the elections board — an appointed body with both Republican and Democratic representatives — is considering whether to expand early voting from the Board of Elections office at 155 E. Washington St. in downtown Athens. Options include additional voting machines in adjacent facilities at City Hall for two weeks, or the entire three weeks, of early voting, which commences on Oct. 17 and continues through Nov. 4.

With early voting for this year’s general election still more than three months away, the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections is already making plans to provide voters with multiple options for casting early ballots.
