The lone dissent came from Commissioner Andy Herod, who represents an eastside district, although not the one where the fraternity house will be located. The house is slated to be built on 6.65 acres at the end of Carriage Lane, off Barnett Shoals Road near Lexington Road, amid a number of apartment complexes.
Athens-Clarke Commission Gives OK to Permit for Fraternity House

Athens-Clarke County commissioners voted 8-1 Tuesday to approve a special-use permit allowing the University of Georgia chapter of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity to build a new house in the eastern part of the county.
