Mary Cameron, former president and CEO of Alberta's Workers Compensation Board, and Jim Stanard, chairman and co-founder of TigerRisk Partners, have been elected to Habitat for Humanity International's board of directors.

"Mary and Jim will further strengthen our board's breadth of talent as Habitat continues to partner with more families and build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter," said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. "We look forward to them serving with us and have no doubt that Habitat will benefit greatly from their wisdom, expertise and experience."

Prior to joining Habitat's board of directors, Cameron was president and CEO of Payment Systems Corporation and held senior executive corporate positions with Capital City Savings and Credit Union, Nu-West Group. She was also president of the Alberta Mortgage and Housing Corporation and is the former deputy minister of housing with the Government of Manitoba. Cameron also served as board chair of Habitat for Humanity Canada in 2014-2015.

Cameron received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. She was named as the Consumer Choice Award's Edmonton Businesswoman of the Year in 2010, and has been recognized as one of Alberta Venture's 50 Most Influential Albertans and as an ITV Woman of Vision. She currently serves as board chair of Cougar Drilling Solutions, board director of Edmonton International Airports and chair of the advisory board of SureHire.

Prior to joining Habitat's board of directors, Stanard founded and served as chairman and CEO of RenaissanceRe, a worldwide leader in property catastrophe reinsurance. He is the former executive vice president of USF&G and the co-founder and former executive vice president of F&G Re.

Stanard has had a long involvement with Habitat for Humanity, organizing and formerly serving as chairman of a chapter in Bermuda. He was also chairman of the advisory group for MicroBuild, a fund sponsored by Habitat to expand housing microfinance lending and help families build or improve their homes incrementally. He is a trustee of the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Science.

Habitat's board of directors is responsible for establishing policy and guiding the organization's efforts to build, improve and advocate for decent and affordable homes across the U.S. and in more than 70 countries around the world. Habitat board members volunteer for two-year terms that can be renewed up to four times.
