National Corporations Bring Opportunities to Georgia
Friday, April 15th, 2016
The Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council will bring together Georgia corporations, minority small businesses and supplier diversity advocates for its annual small business conference – the 2016 Business Opportunity Conference and Expo – on April 19th and 20th at the Cobb Galleria Centre. The GMSDC – the state of Georgia’s leading small business development and supplier diversity organization – annually convenes the Southeast’s largest and oldest supplier diversity and small business development conference.
The conference which attracts more than 500 small business owners, industry experts, supplier diversity advocates and corporate executives from all across the nation. It has established a reputation as the state of Georgia’s premier small business conference, with two full days of workshops, speakers, exhibits, networking and business-building opportunities targeted specifically to small business in Georgia. Day 1 of the 2016 gathering features The State of Minority Business – A National Discussion, featuring a presentation by economist Dr. Danny Boston, a business consultant and professor at Georgia Technical Institute and Dr. Tyra Paytes of The Coca-Cola Company on the current state of minority business.
Stacey Key, the President, and CEO of the GMSDC says that the theme of this year’s conference is a reference to the dynamic and ever-changing marketplace. “A major topic of discussion in the world of small business development today is disruption – the unanticipated and unpredictable things that change the rules in the middle of the game,” says Key. “Realizing Tomorrow – The Journey Continues is merely an acknowledgment of the fact that our work is never really done. A small business must continue to adapt and evolve in order to win.” The conference features a number of elements that set it apart as the premier conference of its kind – a one-on-one matchmaking event that introduces small business owners to potential corporate business partners, a special recognition of top-performing minority business firms known as MBE Titans, and an expo floor full of corporations, prime suppliers and business owners showcasing their capabilities and exchanging information.
