ADDA Director Defends Downtown Agency's Move to New Headquarters

The executive director of the Athens Downtown Development Authority is defending the authority’s upcoming move to new downtown headquarters, saying it will improve the agency’s visibility.

Two months ago, the ADDA board voted to leave its office in the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce building on West Hancock Avenue for a 1,300-square-foot space on the ground floor of the Georgia Gameday Center condominium complex on West Broad Street, which the ADDA purchased for $138,900. For the past several months, the ADDA has been paying the Chamber $1,500 on a month-to-month basis after failing to reach a new lease agreement.
