Downtown Businesses Remain Optimistic Amid Store Closings
Friday, January 29th, 2016
Since the end of the 2015 fall semester, local businesses have been permanently shutting their doors at an alarming rate.
From retailers like Jackson Street Books to restaurants like NONA and East West Bistro, locally owned businesses seem to be dropping like flies. Coupled with the arrival of several big-name businesses in the last few months, including Urban Outfitters, J. Crew and Einstein Bros. Bagels, many Athens residents are taking these changes as major signs that the end-times have finally arrived for the lively, unique and locally oriented culture of downtown Athens.
