Athens Regional Foundation Receives Grant from Junior League of Athens
Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015
The Junior League of Athens is celebrating 80 years of service to the Athens community. For 58 of these years, the League has partnered with Athens Regional Medical Center.
From working in the Koffee Klinic, to providing furnishings in the Guest House, to volunteering as Peds Readers, the Junior League has made a significant impact on healthcare in our community. As a part of their anniversary celebration, the League awarded a grant to the Athens Regional Foundation to create five children’s reading corners in the hospital. The reading corners will be strategically placed in areas that are often visited by children and will include books, bean bag chairs, colorful rugs and bookshelves. League members also volunteer on a monthly basis to share a story and time with young patients in the Pediatrics Unit.
As a lasting symbol of the long-standing relationship between the two organizations, Select Trees donated a river birch tree that has been planted in the Athens Regional Healing Garden. The Athens Regional Foundation congratulates the Junior League of Athens on their 80th anniversary and thanks them for their past and continued support.
