Annual Holiday Party Celebrates Athens Startup Community

Staff Report From Athens CEO

Thursday, December 10th, 2015

Four Athens will hold its annual holiday party to celebrate the local startup community on Wednesday, December 16th at The World Famous on Hull Street in downtown Athens. Taking over the organization’s regular weekly networking happy hour time and location, this year’s party theme is “Wearable Holidays.” Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite holiday inspired fashion.

Athens entrepreneurs have a lot to celebrate, winding down an exciting year of milestones and accomplishments for the burgeoning Classic City startup community – from the recent appearance of local “fashion for good” umano clothing co-founders and brothers on the famous Shark Tank investment pitch television show, to the involvement of online wedding dress consignment company Borrowing Magnolia in the coveted TechStars accelerator this past summer, to the inaugural efforts of a formal partnership between Four Athens and Atlanta’s Advanced Technology Development Center bringing additional startup expertise to Athens this Fall.

“It’s been a great year for our companies. And we’re not slowing down moving into 2016,” explains Jim Flannery, Executive Director of Four Athens. “As soon as the ball drops on New Year’s, we’ll have more exciting news to share about the success of Athens startups, both for individual companies and our community as a whole.”

Upcoming events and new initiatives slated to kickoff in January will be announced at the “Wearable Holidays” party on Wednesday. Guests will also have an opportunity to vote for the annual Startup of the Year, Founder of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year awards given to winners at the annual Four Athens Open House in January.
