Technology Association of Georgia Unveiled Winners of Excalibur Awards

The Technology Association of Georgia, in partnership with the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, today recognized five teams for their work in creating mobile solutions to nonprofit problems. The finalists presented the results of their month-long projects at Day 1 of Mobile Live! 2015, a multi-days conference gathering thought leaders and decision makers in mobile technology. The conference was located in Building A of the Georgia World Congress Center.
This is TAG’s second ever Mobility Live Hack-Back Invitational, a competition to showcase IT talent in Georgia and benefiting national non-profit organizations. The Hack Back Invitational is a month-long hack-a-thon whereby teams of coders, developers and engineers develop mobility solutions for challenges determined by the nonprofits. This year’s nonprofits are:
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta
The Captain Planet Foundation
National 4H Council
This year’s finalists are:
-Team Blue Crystal Web Design- Join Big for Big Brother, Big Sister: the project seek to create a social media app which allows current Big’s and Little’s to match to each other and meet up in real-time.
-Team Isoptera- Mobile Dichotomous Key for the National 4H Council: the project seek to take 4H’s Entomology Curriculum and take it mobile, using apps to teach kids in the style of a dichotomous key.
-Team Jared Rhodes: Captain Planet Foundation Scholarships Application for the Captain Planet Foundation in order to collect field data for projects that Captain Planet has funded through scholarships.
-Team Plant-eteers- Plant.Eteers for the Captain Planet Foundation: a planter that has technology built into the bottom to collect data about the plant, data that is automatically stored to the cloud and can be viewed on a mobile app.
-Team Sharp- Enduring Relationships for Big Brothers, Big Sisters: a mobile app that would connect the alumni network of BBBS across the 300+ agencies nationwide to create more mentors, more funds, and longer mentor engagement for the organization.
The five finalist teams each had 3 minutes to speak about their projects. The top scoring project for each nonprofit will be announced on Day 2 of Mobility Live! On October 29th, 2015 during Lunch. The top scoring team overall will have a chance to present their projects to the audience, speak to the CEO & President of AT&T Mobility and the Weather company, and win cash prices.
