Not all of them will be there for the full time, but Athens-Clarke County’s mayor and commissioners will spend five hours today at City Hall, beginning at 1 p.m., interviewing candidates for volunteer positions on a number of the local boards, authorities and commissions that help guide a wide variety of local government functions.
“It will probably take all of that time,” Mayor Nancy Denson said Tuesday. “Every time we do this,” the mayor continued, “I’m amazed at the quality of people who come forward. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out in front of the public.”
