Food Bank of Northeast Georgia President John Becker accepted a grant donation for $250,000 on July 29 from Danah Craft, executive director of the Georgia Food Bank Association.

The grant was part of the Georgia Food Bank Association’s “Capacity Building Program.”

The donation will be used to support the Food Bank’s “Fresh Approach to Ending Hunger” campaign to build a Food Hub in Rabun County.

Once complete, the hub will feature a production facility that includes flash freezing capabilities, a commercial kitchen, a teaching kitchen and a food distribution center. The food hub also will serve as a small business incubator and provide local food businesses with space and equipment to produce a marketable product.
