Downtown Athens Street Work Won't Interfere with Football Weekends

Any contractors who bid on the first phase of a $7 million project to revamp downtown Athens’ streetscape will have to agree to halt work on Thursday before University of Georgia home football games, and not return to work until the following Monday, according to the manager of the local sales-tax-funded project.

Also, according to Derek Doster of Athens-Clarke County’s Special-Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program, potential bidders were notified they will have to stop work during the week of Thanksgiving, and for the week before and after Christmas.
