Years of Grime Slow Cleaning of Downtown Athens Sidewalks
Friday, July 17th, 2015
It has yet to make a full circuit of downtown Athens, but a sidewalk scrubber placed in service in January now has a new operator, who will be on the job for more than a dozen hours across Saturdays and Sundays.
Suki Janssen, new director of Athens-Clarke County’s Solid Waste Department, told the Athens Downtown Development Authority at its Tuesday meeting that the new sidewalk scrubber operator, who will be paid $25,000 for working as many as nine or 10 hours each weekend day throughout the year, has been on the job for three weeks.
