St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital Names New Managers for Emergency Department, Registration

Jeff English, interim president of St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital, has named Charann Tolbert as manager of the hospital’s emergency department and Kelly Calfee-Driver as manager of registration.

Both women reside with their families in the Sacred Heart region and come to the hospital with extensive experience in their respective areas at St. Mary’s Health Care System in Athens. 

“Charann and Kelly are the right people at the right time for these very important positions,”  English said. “They are local residents who have excellent leadership skills, thorough knowledge of their fields, and great love for our community and the people we serve. I am deeply impressed by their dedication to excellence and commitment to quality.” 

Tolbert is a graduate of Franklin County High School who earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Georgia and her associate’s degree in nursing from Athens Technical College. She has more than 13 years of experience in emergency nursing and leadership, including service as a Clinical Team Leader at St. Mary’s Emergency Department and as a clinical coordinator at Athens Regional Medical Center. She lives on a family farm in Canon. Her husband, Ty, is a paramedic who works in Emergency Medical Services for Madison and Jackson counties. They have two children.

Calfree-Driver is a long-time resident of Elbert County who graduated from Athens Christian School and then earned her associate’s degree in business from Gainesville State College. While working full-time at St. Mary’s, she recently earned her bachelor’s degree in business management from Piedmont College, graduating in May 2014. She came to St. Mary’s in 2011 as a registrar in Patient Access Services. Previous experience includes bookkeeping at Athens Women’s Clinic and financial counseling at Athens Regional Medical Center. In addition to her work with St. Mary’s Patient Access Services, Calfee-Driver volunteers with her church and St. Mary’s Hospice. She and her husband, Kevin, reside in Elbert County, where her three step-children attend Elbert County schools.
