New Decorative Banners Coming to Downtown Athens

Downtown Athens will be festooned with new utility-pole-mounted banners as the result of a Tuesday decision by the Athens Downtown Development Authority board of directors.
In approving the annual allocation of the ADDA’s $60,000 share of local hotel-motel tax revenue for the authority’s Community Enhancement Program funds, the board allocated a total of $12,800, to be spread across the upcoming fiscal year and the next fiscal year, for the purchase of banners to replace the four sets of seasonal banners adorning 59 downtown utility poles.
