Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015

The American Red Cross and Athens Regional Health System will host a blood drive on Thursday, June 4th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The blood drive will be held on the third floor of the Medical Services Building on King Avenue.

Athens Regional employees and individuals from the Athens-area are invited to help save lives by donating blood. All donors will receive food, Athens Regional incentives and be entered into a drawing for door prizes from local Athens favorites such as Last Resort, Hilltop Grille, and Starbucks.

Since its inception in 1859, the American Red Cross has provided disaster relief to millions of people each year. Currently, the Red Cross supplies approximately one half of the nation’s blood supply. Volunteer blood drives, like the upcoming drive at Athens Regional, are vital to ensure a steady supply of blood to those in need.

Help save a life by donating blood to the American Red Cross.  It has been stated by the American Red Cross that for every donation of blood, three lives are saved.

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments can also be scheduled through the information given below. Potential donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Volunteers should get a full night’s sleep, eat iron-enriched foods and drink extra fluids before and after donating. Donors also must bring a photo I.D.
