Periodically, as terms expire or resignations occur, Athens-Clarke County’s mayor and commission make new appointments — or may decide to reappoint incumbents who choose to reapply — to at least some of the local boards, authorities and commissions relying on volunteers to guide various local or regional initiatives.

The county government seeks applicants for six local boards. While there may be specific requirements for potential appointees to some boards, authorities or commissions, in general the only requirements are that applicants be residents of Athens-Clarke County and be registered to vote in the county.
