A newly established Education Director position at Four Athens has been created to expand the organization’s tech education programs for area youth and adults. Sean Reid will hit the ground running as the new head of education initiatives for the local nonprofit, applying his coding and IT skills, as well as five years experience in the Gwinnett County school system, to the design and development of new and innovative tech education opportunities for the Athens community.

Describing his vision for the new role, Mr. Reid, a UGA alum, is particularly interested in creating fun learning experiences for kids in Athens that will engage them and significantly impact their well being. He said, “This is an exciting opportunity to help train up tomorrow’s workforce by developing the critical thinking skills students will need to successfully contribute to the economy of the future.”

Four Athens hosts its first series of Summer Code Camps this year. Three offerings of week long day camps, where kids learn coding skills through game development, will take place in June and July. Details about the Summer Code Camps at Four Athens are on the website at http://www.fourathens.com/summercodecamps

In addition to expanding tech education opportunities for youth at Four Athens, Mr. Reid will also build upon the organization’s programming courses for adults. As a Front End Developer, most recently for an advertising and marketing firm with Fortune 500 clientele, he is currently teaching HTML/CSS and JavaScript basics, one of two adult classes currently in progress at Four Athens.
