St. Mary’s Annual Golf Tournament Set for May 11th

Press release from the issuing company

Friday, April 10th, 2015

St. Mary’s Health Care System Foundation will host the annual St. Mary’s Golf Tournament on Monday, May 11, at Athens Country Club, located at 2700 Jefferson Road.

Golfers will play in teams of four, using Lauderdale rules, and will enjoy a full 18 holes on the award-winning course. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., with a shotgun start at 10.

All proceeds will benefit St. Mary’s Center for Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care, Hospice Services, and Palliative Care Services. The entry fee is $175 per person and includes tournament play, lunch, a dry-fit Antigua golf polo shirt, two mulligans, two drink tickets and the 19th hole reception.

“It is an honor to be able to bring together key hospital staff, volunteers and community members for the annual St. Mary's golf tournament,” said Buddy Barfield, chair of the golf tournament committee. “This event has raised over $300,000 in just the last five years, with every penny going toward St. Mary’s services. It is a great way to raise awareness of the hospital’s state-of-the-art technology and care.”

Prizes will be awarded for lowest score, closest to the pin and last place. The deadline to complete the registration form and submit payment is April 20 for a guaranteed shirt; however, late registration will continue until all slots are filled. Space is limited and the tournament usually sells outs, so golfers are urged to register early. In addition, several sponsorship opportunities remain, with levels starting at $75.

“Each year, St. Mary's Hospital demonstrates their commitment to our community through the excellent care they provide to those they serve,” Barfield said. “In return, participating in this tournament is a great way to demonstrate our community’s commitment to St. Mary’s and its mission to be a compassionate and transforming healing presence.”
