The University of Georgia Alumni Association will host the eighth annual Dawg Trot 5K for Scholarships on March 21 at 9 a.m. in a new location on campus, the Tate Student Center Plaza. Proceeds from this year’s race will directly support scholarships for UGA students.

The course will begin on Sanford Drive, between Memorial Hall and Tate Student Center Plaza, and will end on Sanford Drive alongside Sanford Stadium. A course map can be viewed at www.alumni.uga.edu/alumni/pdfs/Road_Map_2015.pdf.

Early bird registration for the 2015 Dawg Trot 5K for Scholarships is $35 per person, $20 without T-shirt until March 6. Ghost runner registration, where a participant gets a T-shirt, but doesn’t participate in the race, is $30 and available until March 6. Regular registration is $40 per person, $25 without T-shirt from March 7-12. Discounts are also available for UGA students and groups participating in the race. Walk-up registration will be available the day of the race between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m., with T-shirts available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Awards will be presented to the overall male/female winners, the overall male/female winners in the masters division and the top three finishers in each age group. Refreshments will be provided after the race on Tate Plaza.

The Dawg Trot is an official Run & See Georgia Grand Prix race. Therefore, participants can use their Dawg Trot time to qualify for an earlier start time at the Peachtree Road Race and other races across the country.

“Each year, students, alumni and their families gather in Athens for the Dawg Trot 5K,” said Meredith Gurley Johnson, executive director of the UGA Alumni Association. “This year, we are pleased to announce that proceeds from the race will be donated to the Georgia Fund and will directly fund scholarships for UGA students. By participating in this special event, individuals will also be supporting the University of Georgia.”
