Athens Officials Eye Limiting Number of Alcohol Licenses Downtown

Seeking greater balance and variety in the type of businesses in downtown Athens, the Downtown Development Authority is working to determine if a cap should be placed on the number of alcohol licenses issued to downtown establishments.
The board could recommend that the Athens-Clarke County mayor and commission limit the number of alcohol licenses at bars and restaurants in the downtown tax district.
