Two leaders at St. Mary’s Health Care System – Good Samaritan Hospital President Montez Carter and St. Mary’s Vice President Human Resources Jeff English – have been named as recipients of CHE Trinity Health Diversity Champion Awards.
Carter, who also serves as St. Mary’s Vice President of Operations, was selected from among numerous candidates across the nation to receive the Paul Marceau Diversity and Inclusion Education and Outreach Champion of the Year Award. The selection committee singled out his work to bring together the diverse Greene County community in support of St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital. They also cited him for building a solid and positive partnership between Good Samaritan Hospital and Tendercare, Greene County’s Federal Quality Health Center, to enhance care for poor and underserved people in the area.
English, who, like Carter, was selected from a slate of nominees from across the U.S., will receive the Sister Catherine McAuley Chief Human Resources Diversity and Inclusion Champion of the Year Award. English was selected for his work to build an inclusive workplace for individuals with developmental disabilities in partnership with Briggs and Associates. Shortly after learning about Briggs and Associates in 2012, English championed providing employment opportunities to several of their clients in areas such as St. Mary’s Highland Hills Village retirement community and St. Mary’s Short Stay Department.
“I am extremely proud of Montez and Jeff for their commitment to the Mission and Core Values of St. Mary’s and CHE Trinity Health,” said Don McKenna, St. Mary’s President and CEO. “These accomplishments are made possible by combining their strong personal beliefs with an exceptional group of dedicated teammates who together ensure St. Mary’s is a transforming healing presence in the communities we serve.”
