St. Mary’s Hospice Services will host a live, streaming webcast of The Hospice Foundation of America’s Annual National Living With Grief teleconference on Tuesday, April 10, from 2-4:30 p.m. at the Athens-Clarke County Library Auditorium, 2025 Baxter St. This year’s topic is helping adolescents cope with loss.
The webcast will be 2.5 hours, with an additional 30-minute local discussion guided by experts from our area. Questions to the teleconference panel may be submitted online from the Athens downlink during the program. For full program details, visit www.hospicefoundation.org.
National presenters will discuss the issues that adolescents face as they cope with loss. This program will explore the ways that healthcare workers, hospices, educators, social workers, counselors, clergy, funeral directors, and other professionals can assist adolescents as they cope with loss.
Living with Grief is free and open to all. Up to 3 hours of continuing education credit will be available through Hospice Foundation of America for nurses, social workers, counselors, psychologists, clergy, and other qualifying professionals. The CE cost is $15 per person through April 24; after this date, the CE cost will be $25 per person through April 9, 2015.
“Living with Grief is a powerful and practical program that helps professionals who work with people who have suffered a loss,” said Karen Joyce, RN, an oncology nurse and director of St. Mary’s Home Health Care/Hospice Services. “It can also be helpful for laypeople who find themselves helping people who are grieving, such as Sunday School teachers, coaches, or family members. We welcome everyone.”
