UGA Will Start Over On Business Dean Search

Wednesday, March 26th, 2014

The University of Georgia will start over – for the second time – in its search for a new dean for the Terry College of Business.

Four finalists for the job visited the UGA campus last month, but none will get it, UGA Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Pamela Whitten told faculty members in the business college last week.

“During my first weeks at UGA as provost, I had the opportunity to meet with four excellent Terry College dean candidates during their campus visits,” Whitten said in an email to Terry College faculty and administrators. “Each of the candidates offered important strengths and skills and is to be commended for impressive academic and administrative credentials.

“However, based on feedback from the university community and my assessment of the Terry College’s future needs, I feel that we have not yet identified a candidate who is the right fit. At this time, the search remains open as we explore our options.”
