St. Mary’s Expands Free Healthy Hearts Class
Press release from the issuing company
Tuesday, March 4th, 2014
St. Mary’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has expanded its free Healthy Heart Living classes, which help people with heart disease and other chronic illnesses improve their health and quality of life. Healthy Heart Living classes are held the first Tuesday of every month from 1-5 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital.
St. Mary’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has offered Healthy Heart Living for several years to help patients learn how to maximize their health, understand their medications, and avoid complications. Now, the program has expanded to include two new sections to help you keep your heart healthy.
Added this year is an overview of Early Heart Attack Care (EHAC), which informs participants what to do when a heart attack starts to improve chances of survival. Also new is an overview of smoking cessation, showing how quitting smoking helps your heart and tips on how to get started.
Other informational sessions offered include diabetes, nutrition and medication safety. Participants can attend one part of the class or stay for all sessions, but St. Mary’s encourages those attending to come for the whole presentation for maximum benefit.
