Athens Area Business Owners Adjust to Spring Break Lull

There can be no question that spring break represents big business.
According to DoSomething.org, more than a million college-age students leave their campuses for locales like Daytona Beach and Panama City, Fla., South Padre Island, Texas, and Cancun, Mexico, for a week of sun, fun and an abundance of adult beverages.
While they’re away from home and hearth, spring breakers will spend more than $1 billion on their respective social pursuits, making the spring-break season, which runs roughly from the beginning of March to the middle of April, a campaign of financial windfalls for plenty of folks in the service industry.
But what happens in the college towns that are left behind, specifically our own Classic City?
