Top Ten Most Stressful, Least Stressful Jobs

Press release from the issuing company

Wednesday, January 8th, 2014

Every job has some level of stress, but if your goal is to keep stress as low as possible and still have a rewarding career, some jobs are much more attractive than others.

Audiologists, hair stylists, jewelers and tenured university professors lead the list of great jobs where stress isn't an issue, according to a new CareerCast report on the least and most stressful jobs of 2014. Seamstress/tailor, dietician, medical records technician, librarian, multimedia artist and drill press operator round out the nation's least stressful jobs of 2014.

"If your life is already filled with stress, you might want to consider a profession that offers job security, a good hiring outlook and salary but few physical demands, deadlines and danger," says Tony Lee, publisher, CareerCast.com.

Jobs that require unpredictable conditions and high-stakes situations -- enlisted military personnel, firefighters and airline pilots, for example -- are among the most stressful of 2014. Each fills a vital function to society, as their work ensures the safety of others.

Audiologist, which scores as the least stressful job of 2014, helps a wide variety of patients with particular hearing needs and can assist them over the course of a lifetime. Other low-stress health care jobs also bring the satisfaction of aiding others, such as medical records technicians, who keep track of the history of and care of patients, and dieticians, who assist people with achieving a healthier lifestyle.

Landing a less-stressful job often requires a higher level of education. Of the 10 least-stressful jobs in the new Jobs Rated report, half require at least a bachelor's degree.
