As we move into the second half of 2013, it is a good time to look back on the first six months to see how your Athens Area Chamber of Commerce is faring.

The Board of Directors set several aggressive goals for the chamber for 2013, and at the midway point, we appear to be right on schedule in moving the business and economic interests of our community forward.

We pledged to make the chamber more relevant in leading the economic development efforts of our community. In conjunction with the local government, we have welcomed the creation of the Economic Development Department of Athens-Clarke County.

We are grateful the ordinance creating the department recognized the chamber as a partner of the government in economic development matters. The chamber is working with department Director Ryan Moore and his staff to showcase Athens to new business and industry.
