The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (ACCGov) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following terms on important policy-making boards:
- Two positions on the Airport Authority with one position for a partial term expiring June 30, 2029 and one position for a four-year term.*
- Four positions on the Athens-Clarke County Library Board with one partial term expiring June 30, 2029 and three positions for three-year terms.*
- Two positions on the Athens Downtown Development Authority for one property owner and one business owner for two-year terms.
- Three positions on the Clarke County Division of Family and Children Services Board for five-year terms.
- One position on the Classic Center Authority for a four-year term.*
- Two positions on Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Region 2 Advisory Council for three-year terms.*
- One position on the Georgia Innovation Corridor Joint Development Authority for a four-year term.
- Two positions on the Historic Preservation Commission for three-year terms.*
- Eight positions on the Human Relations Commission for four-year terms.*
- Two positions on the Joint Development Authority of ACCGov and Winterville for four-year terms.
- Two positions on the Planning Commission for five-year terms.*
- Two positions on the Public Safety Civilian Oversight Board with one partial term expiring May 31, 2029 and one position for a four-year term. *
- Two positions on the Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly Authority for six-year terms.*
- Three positions on the Vision Committee for three-year terms.*
The deadline for receiving applications is Friday, April 10, 2026. Applicants for any board, authority, or commission position must be Athens-Clarke County residents.
Applications can be filled out online at www.accgov.com/boards or obtained from the Clerk of Commission's Office in Room 204 of City Hall, 301 College Avenue. A separate application must be completed for each position. Applicants can apply for a maximum of two positions.
Interviews are tentatively scheduled for either the afternoon / evening of Tuesday, April 28, 2026 or Wednesday, April 29, 2026, depending on the board. Each board will only have interviews for its candidates on one of the dates, which is indicated on the application. Any applicants who will be out of town or otherwise unavailable on the board interview date should indicate so on their application. Applicants who are selected for an interview will receive a notification of their interview day, time, and location.
The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to make appointments at the Regular Session meeting on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
