Residents Sought for Positions on Six Policy-Making Boards by Nov. 7

The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (ACCGov) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following terms on important policy-making boards:

One position on the Athens-Clarke County Industrial Development Authority for a two-year term expiring December 31, 2027.*

Two positions on the Clarke County Division of Family and Children Services Board. One position is for a partial term expiring June 30, 2026 and one position is for a partial term expiring June 30, 2030. Appointments must be made from the nine membership requirement categories listed on the board webpage.

One position on the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities Region 2 Advisory Council for a partial term expiring June 30, 2026.

One position on the Historic Preservation Commission for a partial term expiring June 30, 2026.

Four positions on the Human Relations Commission. Three positions are for partial terms expiring April 30, 2026 and one position is for a partial term expiring April 30, 2028.

One position on the Solid Waste Advisory Commission for a partial term expiring August 31, 2028.
* - Incumbents are eligible for reappointment and may reapply.
The deadline for receiving applications is Friday, November 7, 2025. Applicants for any board, authority, or commission position must be Athens-Clarke County residents.
Applications can be filled out online at www.accgov.com/boards or obtained from the Clerk of Commission's Office in Room 204 of City Hall, 301 College Avenue. A separate application must be completed for each position.
Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday, November 20, 2025. This will be the only date for interviews. Any applicants who will be out of town or otherwise unavailable on this date should indicate so on their application. Applicants who are selected for an interview will receive a notification of their interview day, time, and location.
The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to make appointments at the Regular Session meeting on Tuesday, December 6, 2025.
