Residents Sought for Positions on 12 Policy-Making Boards by April 4th

The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (ACCGov) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following terms on 12 important policy-making boards:

* - Incumbents are eligible for reappointment and may reapply. 

The deadline for receiving applications is Friday, April 4. Applicants for any board, authority, or commission position must be Athens-Clarke County residents. 

Applications can be filled out online at www.accgov.com/boards or obtained from the Clerk of Commission's Office in Room 204 of City Hall, 301 College Avenue. A separate application must be completed for each position.

Interviews are tentatively scheduled for either Thursday, April 17 or Monday, April 21, depending on the board. Refer to the list below for a tentative schedule. These will be the only dates for interviews. Any applicants who will be out of town or otherwise unavailable on these dates should contact the Clerk of Commission when submitting an application. The interview location will be determined. Interviews are open to the public. Applicants who are selected for an interview will receive a notification of their interview day and time.

The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to interview applicants for the following boards on the afternoon/evening of Thursday, April 17:

  • Airport Authority

  • Athens Downtown Development Authority

  • Development Authority of Athens-Clarke County

  • Hearings Board

  • Historic Preservation Commission

  • Planning Commission

The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to interview applicants for the following boards on the afternoon/evening Monday, April 21:

  • Athens-Clarke County Library Board

  • Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities

  • Human Relations Commission

  • Public Safety Civilian Oversight Board 

  • Solid Waste Advisory Commission

  • Vision Committee

The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to make appointments at the Regular Session meeting on Tuesday, May 6.
