AT&T and Human I-T provided Lydia’s Place and The Five Hive with 50 refurbished laptops to distribute to Watkinsville students and families.
The computers, funded by an AT&T contribution, were given to Watkinsville area youth in the foster care system to help close the digital divide.
“At the City of Watkinsville, we work every day to better connect our citizens - digitally and in person. AT&T’s collaboration with Lydia’s Place and The Five Hive to equip Watkinsville-area young adults with digital devices is a prime example of partners coming together to make a positive impact. This donation will help create equity of opportunity and connect our young adults to endless possibilities in today’s technology driven world,” said Watkinsville Mayor Brian Brodrick. “We appreciate AT&T’s investment in the Watkinsville community and its continued commitment to closing the digital divide.”
“Lydia’s Place is proud to provide young adults aging out of the foster care system with the resources they need to thrive. We are grateful for AT&T’s donation of laptops and the impact it will have on the lives of the young adults we serve,” said Diane Brantley, Executive Director, Lydia’s Place. “These laptops are more than just devices; they are tools of empowerment that will open doors to virtual learning, enhance job skills, and create pathways to success for our young adults.”
“In today’s world, access to technology is essential in how we learn, work and connect with others. AT&T’s donation of laptops is helping us create bright futures for the foster care families we serve by providing them with access to technology and digital resources,” said Megan Ward, Executive Director, The Five Hive. “We are committed to connecting foster care families and youth with resources and tools they need to thrive, and AT&T’s investment in our families is helping us accomplish our mission.”
This effort is part of the AT&T Connected Learning® initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
“AT&T is committed to helping close the digital divide, and we are proud to support the Watkinsville community by collaborating with Lydia’s Place and The Five Hive to provide laptops and digital resources to Bartow County students and families,” said Brian Barfield, Regional Director of External Affairs, AT&T Georgia. “Through this collaboration, we are creating pathways of success for youth and connecting more Georgians to greater possibility.”
