Residents Sought for 14 Positions on Nine Policy-Making Boards by Friday

The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (ACCGov) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following terms on important policy-making boards:

Two positions on the Athens Downtown Development Authority for a term of two years. One shall be the owner of an interest of at least a life estate or greater interest in commercial real estate located in the Downtown Athens Area. One shall be operating a business in the Downtown Athens Area.

Two positions on the Athens in Motion Commission for a term of five years.*

One position on the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Disabilities Region 2 Advisory Council for a term of three years.*

Two positions on the Development Authority of the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County for a term of four years.*

One position on the Division of Family and Children Services for a term of five years.*

One position on the Human Relations Commission for a partial term expiring on April 30, 2026.

One position on the Joint Development Authority of Athens-Clarke County Government & the City of Winterville for a partial term expiring April 30, 2024.

One position on the Planning Commission for a term of five years.

Three positions on the Vision Committee for a term of three years.*

Applicants for any board, authority, or commission positions must be Athens-Clarke County residents. More detailed information about each board, authority, or commission is available online at www.accgov.com/boards.
Applications can be filled out online at www.accgov.com/boards or obtained from the Clerk of Commission's Office in Room 204 of City Hall, 301 College Avenue. The deadline for receiving applications is Friday, July 14. A separate application must be completed for each position.
The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to interview applicants on the afternoon / night of Tuesday, July 25. This will be the only date for interviews. Applicants who are selected for an interview will receive a notification of their interview time. Interviews will be open to the public.
The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to make appointments at the Regular Session meeting on Tuesday, August 1.
