In honor of its founding partners and in celebration of 75 years of service to the Athens area, Fortson, Bentley & Griffin, P.A. has announced the establishment of a $75,000 fund with the Athens Area Community Foundation.
“Our founding partners were committed to bettering this community by giving back to others,” said Fortson, Bentley & Griffin partner David K. Linder. “They set our standard, and we are humbled by the opportunity to continue their generous and compassionate work through this fund.”
Fortson, Bentley & Griffin has served the legal needs of clients throughout Athens and Northeast Georgia since 1946. Their broad client base includes small and large businesses, individuals, financial institutions, hospitals and local governments, and areas of expertise include business and corporate law, real estate transactions, litigation and tax and estate planning.
The firm has a longstanding commitment to supporting the Athens and North Georgia community through volunteer work and sponsorship, evidenced through consistently supporting local nonprofits such as Extra Special People, the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, Mercy Health Clinic, Northeast Georgia Cancer Foundation and more. The $75,000 fund will aid a variety of community organizations that support numerous community needs, including improving community health, providing affordable health care to the uninsured, raising donations for cancer patients, fighting food insecurity, providing affordable housing, improving access to quality education and supporting individuals with disabilities.
Fortson, Bentley & Griffin’s donation is set up as a donor-advised fund in conjunction with the Athens Area Community Foundation, an organization that builds the community by encouraging strategic, long-term giving through funds created by local benefactors. The mission of the Athens Area Community Foundation is to help passionate donors leave permanent legacies, foster strategic philanthropy and shape effective responses to community needs through collaboration. Fortson, Bentley & Griffin’s $75,000 gift will give the firm the opportunity to impact the communities where their team members live, work and serve.
“Forston, Bentley & Griffin’s donation is a terrific way to honor the firm’s 75th anniversary and long-term, steadfast commitment to the Athens area community,” said Athens Area Community Foundation President and CEO Sarah McKinney. “We are pleased to partner with the firm to support this renewed commitment to the communities they serve.”
