When the Boegner family found the property that would become Wolf Mountain Vineyards and Winery in the mid-1990s, it was 30 acres of pine trees located 60 miles from downtown Atlanta. Today, it’s a thriving vineyard. On a given Saturday, Wolf Mountain hosts 350 wine tasters and 200 people for lunch, followed by a wedding for 200 more at night. The vineyard actually had to start turning cars away one weekend because the facility had reached its fire capacity.

Consumers are ready to Spend This Holiday, but not Necessarily at the Stores

Holiday shoppers are more than prepared to buy in force this year. The only question is who will capture their dollars. Three out of four consumers (76 percent) plan to spend as much or more than they did last year, but, according to A.T. Kearney's 2018 Holiday Shopping Survey.

Gov. Nathan Deal announced that SK innovation, a developer and manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries for hybrid electric vehicles, is estimated to create more than 2,000 jobs and invest $1.67 billion in a new manufacturing plant in Jackson County in the long term.

AT&T Names Venessa Harrison President-Georgia

Venessa Harrison has been named new state president for AT&T in Georgia. With over three decades of experience with AT&T and its predecessor companies, Harrison comes to Georgia after serving as AT&T-North Carolina’s state president since 2013. She succeeds Bill Leahy, who recently announced his retirement after a nearly-four decade career with AT&T.

Amazon Selects New York City and Northern Virginia for New Headquarters

Amazon announced that it has selected New York City and Arlington, Virginia, as the locations for the company’s new headquarters. Amazon will invest $5 billion and create more than 50,000 jobs across the two new headquarters locations, with more than 25,000 employees each in New York City and Arlington.

University System of Georgia Enrollment Increases to All-Time High

Fall 2018 enrollment in the University System of Georgia’s (USG) 26 colleges and universities totaled 328,712 students, an increase of 1.1 percent (or 3,509 more students) over the previous year. This fall’s enrollment continues a five-year trend of modest increases in student enrollment in the USG.

Toby Carr Named as UGA’s Next Vice President for Government Relations
