The UGA Small Business Development Center in Athens to Host SBDC StartSMART Series

Staff Report From Athens CEO

Friday, December 16th, 2016

Beginning January 27, 2017 the Athens SBDC will hold StartSMART, its signature program for new entrepreneurs who:

- Started a business and realized there are a few business fundamentals that need to be worked on.

- Have a great idea for a business, but need help to get it going.

- Want to launch a new location or venture for a current business.

- Need to develop a business plan to get funding.

The series will begin on January 27 and consists of eight modules over five Fridays, ending on February 24th. Most sessions will last from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Through the 5-week course, participants will learn how to evaluate their concept, develop plans, acquire a working knowledge of business fundamentals, build an infrastructure for business operations and processes, and develop a financial forecast. At the end, participants will leave with a thorough, practical business plan. Participants are encouraged to take advantage of the SBDC’s no cost business consulting after taking the course.

For a limited time there is an Early Bird Special rate of only $295 ($200 off the normal price of $495). To eliminate competitors there is an application process, so apply now before your competitor gets your spot. After being approved to attend, a discount code will be shared to take advantage of the early bird discount. Breakfast is included on all days and lunch is also included on full days.

All sessions will be held at the UGA SBDC in Athens office at 1180 E. Broad St. on Fridays: January 27 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. February 3, 10, 17 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. February 24 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. More information or to apply visit www.GeorgiaSBDC.org/StartSMART.
