Wednesday, December 14th, 2016
Four Athens, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving high-growth startups and educating software coders since 2011, has announced the selection of Jordan Burke as its new Executive Director. He will fill the vacancy created when Jim Flannery, Four Athens’ founder, steps down as Executive Director to focus on his role with Georgia Tech’s Advanced Technology Development Center as the Athens Community Catalyst. Beginning January 1st, Mr. Flannery will serve as Four Athens’ designated ATDC board member.
“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” reported Professor Usha R. Rodrigues, Four Athens Acting Board Chair. “Jordan will bring leadership and creativity to Four Athens. He has led several startups, and brings a breadth of perspective and experience to the Four Athens community.”
Mr. Burke has been the director of adult education at Four Athens since 2015, working to develop new technical literacy classes and curricula to feed a growing demand in Athens for accessible tech education opportunities. He has helped develop over 20 different classes, introducing over 50 people to programming in 3 different coding languages, all in partnership with local community organizations like Goodwill Industries.
“I’m excited to continue the work that Four Athens has done over the past five years, and I’m looking forward to taking the organization to the next level,” Mr. Burke said. “Athens has tremendous potential as a creative and tech hub, and I’m delighted to work with the community to realize that potential.”
