Jacob Sinderman is learning the ropes of operating a small business while continuing his college education at the University of Georgia.

Sinderman, a senior finance and Spanish major, is part of the growing number of college students who are gaining valuable business and leadership skills through Young Entrepreneurs Across America (YEAA).

According to the company’s website, “Young Entrepreneurs Across America is a program designed to help teach young students how to run a small business. As a student in our program, you will develop communication and business skills through a summer of real business world experience. These skills will make you more attractive to full-time employers upon graduation, and better prepare you for the real world that awaits.”

YEAA serves as the training and development program behind Student Painters, a national company that provides residential exterior painting services to customers while helping college students become young entrepreneurs.

Sinderman will serve as branch manager for Athens Student Painters and be responsible for writing a business plan, conducting all marketing and advertising, as well as hiring and managing several painting crews this summer.

“Through the training and supervision of Student Painters, I can develop these skills that will make me more attractive to full-time employers upon graduation, and better prepare me for the real world that awaits,” said Sinderman. “This is a wonderful opportunity for both local students searching for jobs and homeowners in search of a quality paint job with excellent customer service.”

Sinderman said this internship will allow him to put into practice the business theories and education he has received from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business.

“This internship is unique,” he said. “Last summer I did an internship in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I worked as a financial assistant. I learned the technical skills and got a corporate view. I wanted to do something very different this summer; this is a change of pace for me. It will be a new learning experience. I am looking forward to giving back to a community (Athens) that has already given me so much these past four years.”

Athens Student Painters will begin home exterior paint jobs in May. For more information and a price quote, contact Jacob Sinderman at 717-979-6894.
