Pediatricians Sprayberry, Kelly, Chappell Join St. Mary’s to Form Hometown Pediatrics

Local pediatricians David R. Sprayberry, MD, Carrie C. Kelly, MD, and Tresa Chappell, MD, have joined St. Mary’s Medical Group to form Hometown Pediatrics, opening Aug. 3 at 1020 Jamestown Boulevard, Building 200, Watkinsville.
Drs. Sprayberry, Kelly and Chappell provide primary care, wellness care, and a full range of pediatric vaccination services to children from birth to age 21. Their practice welcomes all children and adolescents, including those with chronic conditions and developmental delays. They are currently accepting new patients in addition to transfers from their previous practice.

A 30-year resident of Georgia, Dr. Sprayberry graduated from the University of Georgia in 1995 and earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 2001. He completed his pediatric residency at Greenville Hospital System in 2004, the same year he became board-certified in pediatric medicine and began practicing in the Athens area. He and his wife, Amy, have four children.
Dr. Kelly grew up near Savannah and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia. She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and went on to complete her pediatric residency at Greenville Hospital System in 2008. She also earned her board certification in pediatrics and began practicing pediatrics in the Athens area in 2008. She and her husband have two sons.
Dr. Chappell is a native of Jacksonville Beach, Fla. She attended Oxford College of Emory University and earned bachelors’ degrees in chemistry and Spanish from Emory. She earned her medical degree from Emory School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. She practiced pediatrics for four years in Alpharetta, Ga., before coming to Athens in 2011. She and her husband, cardiologist Clay Chappell of Oconee Heart and Vascular Center, have three sons.
Hometown Pediatrics is located off Hog Mountain Road just east of the Oconee Civic Center. Hours will be Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All three physicians maintain privileges at both Athens hospitals.
As part of St. Mary’s Medical Group, Hometown Pediatrics accepts all forms of insurance accepted by St. Mary’s Health Care System, including most major private insurance plans and Medicaid.
