The Georgia Department of Labor and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary will co-sponsor a career and resource expo Thursday, May 14, in Athens. The expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the VFW Post No. 2872, 835 Sunset Drive.    

The expo is designed to assist with the employment needs of active, retired, and reserve military personnel and their families. However, all job seekers may attend.  GDOL veterans employment representatives and other staff from the department’s Athens Career Center will be on hand to help the jobseekers.  

The expo will feature about 60 employers that will be hiring or discussing future employment opportunities, while other organizations will provide educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available jobs. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for jobs.
