Piedmont Atlanta Hospital and Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center are two of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals, according to Newsweek. This is the fifth time Piedmont Athens has received this designation.

The annual list by Newsweek of hospitals providing the highest quality maternity care features 460 facilities across the United States. The list is based on a nationwide online survey of hospital managers and medical professionals, publicly available data from hospital surveys regarding patient experience, as well as data on relevant quality metrics (such as the number of elective cesarean deliveries) from sources including The Joint Commission, a nonprofit hospital accreditation organization, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The publication notes that top-tier institutions in 2026 are distinguished by their integration of ambient AI for clinical documentation, remote patient monitoring to combat rising hypertension, and the expansion of doula and midwifery integration to improve equity in birth outcomes.
