Work Session Meetings Moving to Dougherty St. Building & Changing Time to Noon as of April 9

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024

The Athens-Clarke County Mayor and Commission will move the location of their Work Session meetings from City Hall to the Dougherty Street Government Building Auditorium at 120 West Dougherty Street and change the time of the meetings from 5:30 PM to noon beginning with the Work Session meeting on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Work Sessions will continue to be held generally on the second Tuesday of each month, with some additional Work Sessions held on other days as needed in the same location and at the same time unless otherwise noted.

Work Sessions are informal meetings in which staff or other organizations provide a limited number of scheduled in-depth presentations to the Mayor and Commission on specific topics or future initiatives. During these sessions, the Mayor and Commission have opportunities to discuss the information with presenters and staff. There are no formal actions, votes, or public comments taken during Work Session meetings.

The change of location is designed to be a less formal and more conversational setting for presentations and discussions. Work Sessions were previously held in the Dougherty Street Government Building Auditorium prior to moving to City Hall in late 2018. The Mayor and Commission had requested that staff explore a time change at their February 2024 retreat to better accommodate staff, elected officials, and other presenter schedules during working hours instead of in afterhours meetings.

Agendas for Work Sessions are posted at www.accgov.com/agendas prior to meetings. Work Sessions will continue to be live streamed to the ACCGov YouTube channel and Roku channel. Videos of Work Sessions will continue to be rebroadcast on ACTV Spectrum Channel 180 and available on-demand on the ACCGov YouTube channel, on www.accgov.com/videos, and on the ACCGov Roku channel.
