The University of Georgia Terry College of Business will host the 10th annual Southeastern Conference MBA Case Competition from March 30-April 1.

The SEC MBA Case Competition, established in 2013, provides opportunities for SEC business schools to showcase their students’ skills at solving simulated, real-world problems faced by a large corporation. Previous corporate sponsors have included Valvoline, Aflac, AT&T, Regions Financial and FedEx. This year’s case company will be revealed at a later date.

“We are pleased to welcome the outstanding teams from across the Southeastern Conference for the first time to the Business Learning Community at the University of Georgia,” said Santanu Chatterjee, associate dean for diversity, international and master’s programs and director of Terry College’s Full-Time MBA and MS in Business Analytics programs. “The events we have planned will be a showcase for the amazing talent on hand, not to mention the leadership opportunities that the SEC consistently provides our students.”

The program will begin on Thursday evening with a dinner for all participating MBA students to meet and share experiences before the case competition commences the next day. On Friday morning, teams will receive the case from representatives of the sponsoring company. The teams will have approximately 24 hours to prepare their recommended solutions, which they’ll present on Saturday to a panel of company executives in divisional and final rounds of competition.

The winning team receives a $10,000 prize; second place receives $6,000; third place receives $3,000; fourth place receives $1,000; and individual division winners for best presenter and best Q&A are awarded $250 each.

The University of Kentucky hosted the 2022 event, as the University of Tennessee took home its first-ever SEC competition championship with a case provided by Valvoline Inc.

Since 2011, the SEC has supported and promoted collaborative programs and activities for its 14 member universities, such as the SEC Student Pitch Competition, the SEC Emerging Scholars Program, among others.
