Athens Academy Graduates Honored for Citizenship & Character

During Athens Academy’s Senior Honors Day in May, Head of School John Thorsen and Upper School Director Susan Zalac were pleased to recognize several members of the Class of 2021 for their outstanding character, citizenship, and school spirit during their Upper School years. These awards include the Head of School Award and the Kirk B. Oliver, Jr. Award:

The Head of School Award: Mo Alserafei, McKenzie Elrod & Clark O’Neill

This award is presented to two seniors who, through the influence of character and unselfishness, have made significant contributions to the life of the school.

  • ·  Mo is the son of Samira Jammoul of Athens. He will attend Wofford College this fall.

  • ·  McKenzie is the daughter of Travis and Monica Elrod of Athens. She will attend Georgia Tech this

    fall.

  • ·  Clark is the son of Shane and Amy O’Neill of Athens. He will attend Auburn University this fall.

    The Kirk B. Oliver, Jr. Award: Ben Cuneo & Xinyuan Fan

    These seniors’ involvement has had a significant impact in many areas of school life throughout their years in the Upper School. With total commitment and without expectation of recognition, both have shown dedication and support for the common good, willingly taking on challenges with dignity and courage.

    · Ben is the son of Pat and Kelley Cuneo of Hull. He will attend the University of Georgia this fall. · Xinyuan is the Ming-Jun Lai and Lingyun Ma of Athens. She will attend the University of

    Pennsylvania this fall.
