Athens Academy is pleased to announce that despite difficult, socially-distanced circumstances, the Upper School robotics team, #2858, placed second in the Gwinnett FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) League competition. The team also received the Inspire Award for sharing “their experiences, enthusiasm and knowledge with other teams, sponsors, their community, and the judges. Working as a unit, this team will have shown success in performing the task of designing and building a robot.”

The Athens Academy robotics team submitted their work online, including an excellent Engineering Journal and videos of their robot in action, since there were no in-person competitions this season due to COVID-19.

Team members include Matt Can, Anvesha Das, Kitty Fan (team captain), Andrew Jang, Sean Jensen, Ben Kesterson, David Liu, John Wolfe McLean, Thomas Meyer, Kathryn Nichols, Kishan Shah, Neela Sudhagar, Karan Tongia, Safi Uddin, and Rodrigo Vega. The team is coached by Mike Callinan.
