Blasingame, Burch, Garrard & Ashley, P.C. (BBGA) is pleased to announce the addition of three new attorneys, Amy BeMent, Caroline Harvey, and Tyler Mathis.

Amy BeMent works with the firm’s business department. Her practice is focused on a variety of business matters, including business disputes and complex commercial litigation. Prior to her legal career, Amy spent 11 years teaching government, politics, and economics to high school students. After graduating law school from Georgia State University College of Law, she spent two years clerking with the Honorable Steve C. Jones at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, followed by a year clerking with the Honorable Chief Justice Harold D. Melton at the Georgia Supreme Court. Amy brings many invaluable insights regarding the workings of federal court and the state appellate courts into her practice of law at BBGA. She is admitted to practice in all State, Superior, and Appellate Courts in Georgia, as well as the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. 

Caroline Harvey is a residential real estate attorney at BBGA. Caroline received her B.A. in Art History from the University of Georgia, graduating magna cum laude. She then attended the University of Georgia School of Law where she served as Executive Notes Editor for Volume 54 of the Georgia Law Review. During her time on the Law Review, Caroline published a paper discussing the legal implications of purchasing stolen works of art and proposing alternative compensation schemes for bona fide purchasers of those works. She won the 2019 Lawyers Committee for Cultural Heritage Preservation Law Writing Competition and worked for a non-profit engaged in combatting illegal trafficking of cultural heritage objects. 

Tyler Mathis recently joined the personal injury team at BBGA. His practice at the firm includes medical malpractice, car and truck accidents, nursing home abuse, and other personal injury cases. Tyler is a first-generation college graduate who is passionate about interacting with and helping people. It is so important to him that he turned down a paid internship the summer after his first year in law school to instead work for free at The Veterans Legal Clinic (VLC), which serves Georgia veterans and helps them get the benefits they have earned through their military service. Tyler also helped to establish the UGA School of Law’s First-Generation Student Association and was the recipient of the Stacey Godfrey Evans Scholarship, which is awarded to first-generation college graduates. The student group focuses on social issues that are relevant to first-generation graduates and is an addition to the First-Start Scholars Program. Tyler received his bachelor’s degree from Georgia College and State University and his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law.
