Second Annual Above Athens Balloon Festival Set for Sandy Creek Park September 28th

The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department will host the second annual Above Athens Balloon Festival on Saturday, September 28 from 3:00 p.m. until approximately 8:30 p.m. at Sandy Creek Park. The event will conclude with a beautiful balloon glow.

Citizens will have the opportunity to see these majestic balloons up close! Other highlights of the event include tethered balloon rides, food trucks, free children's activities, a beer garden, and a business expo presented by the Athens West Business Group.

Bulldog 93.3 will host a live radio remote during the event. Please tune in for event and traffic information prior to & during the event.

There is a $5 per vehicle entrance fee. This is a CASH ONLY event. Only vehicles paying with cash will be permitted to enter the park, small bills recommended. Annual passes to Sandy Creek Park cannot be used for the entrance fee for this event. This is a no pet event, as well.

Tethered balloon rides will be available for $10 per person (cash only) and are subject to weather conditions. All individuals who enter the balloon area must sign a waiver.

Sandy Creek Park will be closed to the public on Saturday, September 28, 2019 prior to the Above Athens Balloon Festival.
